Hello,

I got my Kentia Palm about 2 months ago and I recently noticed that some of the lower leaves have died. Their stalks have gone yellow and the leaves are dry and brown. I thought it was because they were in a very shady place but even since I've put them in the window they are still dying. Please help me.

Many thanks,
Emily

Hi Emily. Kentias respond very slowly to changes in their environment.

What direction does that window face?

How do you decide when to water and how much do you give it? About how often is that?

I water the plant every week and quite thoroughly. I don't know which way the window is facing but it's not overly sunny!

Kentias Palms need protection from any direct sun falling on the fronds at any time during the day. Otherwise, as much indirect sunlight as possible.

I suggest that you probe the soil with your finger and water thoroughly only when the top 2-3 cms of soil feels dry.
