Hi there! I'm new to gardening and I want to add some peonies to our landscape. I understand that they prefer full sun, but I'm hoping I can get some guidance on two options I have for locations. With the term "full sun," I understand that to be 6-8 hours of sun each day - does that mean all year long, or just during growing season? My first location option is ideal for convenience purposes: close to the house since I plan to cut the blooms for arrangements, and also visible to enjoy watching them bloom. This area gets about 6 hours of sunlight in the Spring, and from June-July will get about 7 hours, and then late Summer, go back to 6 hours. In the Fall/Winter, that location will likely get less than 6 hours of sunlight a day. My second option is less ideal for convenience (further from my house), but it's guaranteed 8 hours of sun for the Spring/Summer seasons, and 6 hours in early Spring/late Fall/Winter. I really want to make sure I pick the best spot for maximum number of blooms so I don't have to worry about transplanting if it doesn't do well, but I also wasn't sure how many days of "full sun" they need throughout the whole year. Hopefully that all makes sense, and I've explained my question well enough! Thank you so much for any advice. :)

The first site should be Ok I grow peonies in less than that. Also make sure they are not planted too deep. The eyes need to get chilled to bloom.
i'm pretty OK today, how are you? ;^)
