Hello I'm new to this forum but could do with some advice. I've just found some strange cream oblong pellets in my raised bed. There was also an ants nest and they went crazy when I disturbed them. They seem to be interested in these pellets. Some are quite large, about 1cm in length but there are smaller ones too. They are squishy. I've seen the ants carrying the smaller ones. Are they eggs for the ants or food? I've had a problem with vine weevil and not sure if they are the grubs. They were just below the surface of the soil. I will attach some pics for reference. Can anyone tell me what they are please?

I believe you want to research recipes for tacos escamoles; a Mexican delicacy the filling of which is made of ant eggs.
Best consumed with Mexican beer. Lots of Mexican beer.
I find myself most amusing.

Probably the very young ants, if they were carrying them away from the disturbed area.
