Hello,

I planted some giant marconi peppers in pots. I used miracle gro potting mix (21-11-16 ratio) I am wondering if the high amount of nitrogen in comparison to the other nutrients will prevent flower formation and thus fruit production? Was this particular potting mix a good choice or should I have chosen something else?

Thanks,

Jim

Welcome!

I grow peppers in Miracle Gro Potting Soil every year. I've never had problems, always have lots and lots of peppers and never add any more fertilizer. The MG has more than plenty for the whole season.

I'll let you in on a secret though. I put a LOT of peppers in every pot, not just one. I have a half wine barrel with about 20 pepper plants in it.

Here's last year's pot:

Its the ratio as well as how strong. This ratio is ok..not overly high in nitrogen.
