Hey Guys,

Does anyone know what these marks on my Golden Barrel Cactus are? They're getting progressively bigger but other than that the cactus hasn't changed colour, isn't squishy and is growing. Worried it's splitting from over watering and not sure how to save it if this is the case? The small marks on the second photo were there when I brought it.

Thank you!

Mechanical damage. The lower one in the first picture is where an areole used to be (the raised part of the plant which spines come out of) but was apparently ripped off. Not an issue and increasingly less visible with time. The rest look like damage from another spiny cactus hitting it or swiping it with its spines (pretty common in a nursery or retail setting).

Ooh I hadn't thought of that - thank you! Yeah there was an areole there but it fell off yesterday and that was when I got more concerned. So does that mean there isn't anything I can do to fix it?

Thank You!

Just be patient and eventually all this stuff will be invisible when the plant gets older.
