Could this be in the Gesneriad family? A friend has asked for an ID for this gorgeous plant and I have no thoughts. How about you?

It doesn't resemble any Gesneriad I've ever seen but it sure is gorgeous whatever it is! I'll be watching in hopes that someone recognizes that beauty!!! Lovey dubby

Thanks Lin, it appears to be a mystery. My friend is trying to find out from her friend, the plant owner, where the plant was obtained. Maybe we can figure it out that way, it sure is pretty.
