Hello,

I recently bought some purple day lilies. They keep blooming one new lily and then it dies the next day. Also, they are supposed to be purple, but only the center is purple, while the outer part of the petals are orange.

I planted them in a pot. The soil is half rich soil from our garden bed, 1/2 potting soil. I've given it miracle grow once. We live in zone 7 and we get only 4 hours of sun with our tree line.

Looks great to me. Individual blossoms only last one day but buds continue to open. I also love the color and would enjoy having the plant, Welcome to NGA.

If the tag said they are purple, then it was mislabeled.

Welcome!

As Paul said, each flower only lasts a day, which is why they are called daylilies (although they are not lilies). Did the label that said they were purple also give a name for the daylily?

Maybe it said they had a purple eye, and you didn't know what that meant, yet???? Still, nice looking plant, although I can understand the disappointment if you had your heart set on all purple.

The picture on the plant said daylily and the eye was a deep purple while the outside was a light purple. More flowers are opening now! Thank you all.
