I can't remember if I have asked about this one before, but I received this from a former daylily member in 2015 as 'Midnight Dazzle', but it is not. I will probably ask her, but thought I would start here.

There are very few pictures of the actual Midnight Dazzle out there and no pictures of it in the NGA database. My NOID does not match the description of Midnight Dazzle at all. Smokey's Gardens has a picture of the real MD here: https://smokeysgardens.com/day...)

My NOID would have to have been registered before 2015. It gets about 30 inches tall and the blooms are about 5 inches. The coloring is a rose-red with a green throat, white mid-ribs and a yellow toothy edge.

It's pretty but no clue. It's fairly distinct I would think w the teeth and white rib. I don't grow those kind but maybe someone else will. If you know of a hybridizer that favors teeth, you might start there.

Check out Substance Of Fire (Petit) in the NGA database. Your daylily reminds me of it which we once grew. Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Substance of Fire')

Look at SOUL ON FIRE in the database.

Good luck.

Mystery Solved! I found out that what I thought was 'Midnight Dazzle' is really 'Rogue', so I had two daylilies in my garden that were mislabeled. The lady that gave these to me probably got them mixed up when digging. I'm not saying that I couldn't have done it, but when she digs she digs a lot of daylilies at one time and then tags everything, so I believe she somehow got these two mixed up. It is not the first time that I received something from her that later turned out not to be what it was supposed to be.

Rogue

Midnight Dazzle (it hasn't dazzled me yet, lol!)

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!
