Does anyone grow or have tried to grow Gerbera Dasies? I want to try. I have loads of seeds and hate to see them go to waste.

I've never started them from seeds but have purchased plants and they seemed to die out by mid summer so I gave up on them Shrug!

I am going to give it a shot . They multiply without help but I want to separate mine and begin to gather seeds and see what happens. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My Mother plants are these.

Jack used to grow them from seed - tricky planting. They'd grow but the heat bothered them.

Today we bit the bullet and separated the one big container of daisies and they look really sad. Not sure we should have done it. I have two other containers of plants but I am not going to touch these until I see if they are going to grow. My seeds have sprouted and are looking great. So far so good. Wish me luck.

Yes, but they do not like extreme heat and until they get the third leaf I am praying they do not get too warm in the greenhouse. The house is a constant 72 and they will not survive in a constant 72 until they are older. The are basically an outside plant but now so many people are using them indoors that the poor things really do not know what is going on. Grin

We separated the really full container yesterday and got 8 plants out of it. All different colors, including that beautiful redish burgundy one. It is very difficult to separate them when they are pot bound and I hope we did not damage them in doing so.

Hello Gerbera Daisies fans:

I am so excited that my seeds have progressed to the point where they are now in small individual pots and have two , three and four leaves on some plants. The older plants have been divided and are now in 6" pots and are doing very well.

I am really delighted to have had such good luck with these plants during this crazy weather we have been having and the covid problems.
At least I have had something to take my mind of the death of my adorable and much missed Charle.
Missy the Schnauzer misses him so much as do we all. It has been a month and 2 days now since his death and it seems like only yesterday. My constant companion is now in Heaven and waiting for me.

So very sorry for your loss of Charlie......the awful heartbreak of loving your pets.....& yes, the other pets mourn....when I lost my male airedale Skip, his sister, Jazz, was so depressed, it was awful. My husband & I rescued another male airedale, but she wasn't interested & passed 8 months later.
