I presently fertilize my hoyas with epiphyte's delight plant food. Since it was developed for them, I use it on my tillandsias, orchids and bromeliads. I figure since hoyas are epiphytes that it should be good for them too. Yes?

Doing way too much reading, I see a lot of people use super thrive plant food for the hoyas.

What are your thoughts on epiphyte's delight VS super thrive?

I always have good intentions of getting on a regular feeding schedule for my plants during the summer growing season but my attention span is not so great. *Blush* On the rare occasions that I do remember to feed my Hoyas, I use Better-Gro (11-35-15) orchid bloom booster fertilizer. I fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and dump in a couple of spoonfuls of the fertilizer (I always use less than the recommended amount listed on the package). Sometimes I will add a cap full of fish fertlizer to the bucket as well as a cap full of super thrive.

I think I'll go outside right now and feed my plants! Green Grin!

So I guess an epiphyte fertilizer designed specifically for epiphytes is ok then. I feed them maybe once a month with a 1/4 strength mixture, spraying the leaves and soaking the soil. They seem to be doing fine.

I find that my plants, since they are in an outside greenhouse, which receives a tremendous amount of sunlight till about 1pm, then again at 4pm (the tree shades it in the middle hours) tend to dry out very quickly. Consequently I water them every other day. The Bella and Lancuso get watered every day, as does the multiflora. So far, they are all growing and seem to be happy. I'll see what happens come September when it starts to chill down and the sun is a lot less. Hopefully I can over winter them indoors.

Stay safe and stay well....

From what I've read, and been told, hoyas don't necessarily need plant food. My mother's Hindu Rope hasn't gotten fertilized in 30 years and it's perfectly happy. Also, regular plant food can be used if diluted, using no more than 25% recommended amount per volume of water. I'm assuming the exact fertilizer used isn't something you need to stress about.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

Since all of my hoya grow together in a large greenhouse they get hit with food when I hit everything else. I use Osmocote PLUS which I apply every January to all the containerized plants and the plants planted in the ground, but, slow release is TOO SLOW for some of my stuff so they also get fertilized weekly with half strength water soluble 20-20-20.

I am surprised you fertilize your bromeliads....they generally do not like to be fertilized. It makes them green up if they are supposed to be colorful. Professional bromeliad growers and hybridizers do fertilize in order to produce more plants for sale faster, but a few months before they put them out for sale they stop all fertilizer to allow the plants to revert to the bright colors they are supposed to be
