I am looking for this tall bearded variety. I was for sale through Green mountain Roses not so long ago but no longer. Also from Adam Grove nursery but they seem to be gone also. |

Tessa ~ ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, nurseries are "dropping like flies"! We had about 10 nurseries in our county, and now there is only Home Depot and Walmart! I hope you can find Magnifica! TB Finder does not list it. @BlueFlagFan? "Luck favors the prepared mind." - Thomas Jefferson |

Evelyn, in Maryland our biggest perennials nurseries were Carroll Gardens and Bhenke's. Now we've lost them both. -"If I can’t drain a swamp, I’ll go pull some weeds." - Charles Williams |

I know how to run a nursery, but I'm too old now...not physically able. Not sure I would give up the savings to do it either. What are all these wonderful nursery people doing now? ![]() "Luck favors the prepared mind." - Thomas Jefferson |

I have found some amazing cutting edge plants at Home Depot, so I can't complain at very reasonable prices. This year they had an amazing variety of European originated bare root roses and was able to reget a few I've liked like Annsley Dickson and Kardinal. The last 2 January's they had blue orchids that looked for real. Orchid people never heard of such a thing. Quest lead to China and a remote area. Appears they develop method of injecting a substance that only they know the formula into the very immature buds, This year Home Depot had them again but also in a wide range of colors from different shades of blue to almost black purple. |

Joe ~ When I was a child, I died our garden flowers with food coloring...but that was in a vase. Some day, it will be by genetic manipulation of the various genes for colors. When looking at some of the bedding plants at Dome Depot...annuals...I saw labels that gave a warning for cancer. Why do they buy from people that use those chemicals? I worry about the bees, in that case. "Luck favors the prepared mind." - Thomas Jefferson |

I've seen those blue orchids at Walmart and the Safeway grocery store in my town. Our one large nursery in town has been for sale for a couple of years. ![]() • “Whoever said, ‘Do something right and you won’t have to do it again’ never weeded a garden.” – Anonymous |

There are genetically modified blue roses and orange petunias. The roses aren't really that blue--more like a mauve color. |

After she told me that they wouldn't come back that blue color next year I didn't buy one. • “Whoever said, ‘Do something right and you won’t have to do it again’ never weeded a garden.” – Anonymous |

Yes, the story behind both the genetic engineered blue rose & orange petunia & red iris are very long to go into them here. Simply there is more going on in color of a genius and is more complex then simply inserting a gene in the sequence. The Orange petunia was successful but notice you don't see it on the market anymore. It all has to do with gov't red tape and requirements. |
