In my search for pictures of older daylilies, I stumbled across this article, which was just published this year.

I was amazed as I scanned through the 196 page document, just how many older daylilies that were pictured that I actually own!!!!!

I enjoyed that article, although took a while to go through it. I have a lot of them too. Like iris though when they start talking historical, I really object when they count plants younger than me. And some younger than my children Sighing!

Some of my own pictures are in this publication:) Oliver Billingslea put it together and I thought he did a great job! Historical daylilies are considered all species daylilies plus cultivars that were registered 1990 (corrected from 1980) or before.

Actually it is 1990 or before because the decade ticked over this year from 1980. From the AHS Daylily Dictionary:

"Historic Daylily:
All daylilies registered on or before 1990. This is a "rolling" date which extends by ten years every decade, i.e. in 2030, the date will change to 2000."

Oh yes, 1990 or before. I will correct my statement so it doesn't get used. Thanks, Sue!
