I bought Frequent Comment from two different suppliers. I planted both in the same spot (they were the same plant right?) but when they bloomed there were what looked like two different flowers in the same clump. When I went back and reexamined the auction photos (I save them for later ID reasons) the photos from each seller were a bit different from each other, but each resembled one of my blooms. To further confuse the matter, when I went to look at other photos on line some looked like one supplier's auction photo (and one of my blooms) and others looked like the other supplier's auction photo (and my other bloom). ![]() One does look a bit more like the description of Frequent Comment than the other, but I am not sure.... Rose peach with yellow eyezone and yellow ruffles above green throat. Here is the 1st auction photo and then the bloom from my garden that resembles it. This is the one that has more rose-peach ![]() ![]() Here is the other auction photo and then the other one from my garden. ![]() ![]() Here is the link to the plant files here. I just can't tell even from them... Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Frequent Comment') I am posting a few from there to show what I mean. Help! |

Here are two shots of my Frequent Comment. I don't know how long ago you planted yours but I'm finding it can take a good three years for new daylilies to settle in and actually develop "the look" they're supposed to have.![]() |

Not sure if this will help or not... this photo is from 1999 and the cameras were not as good then. This camera did take good color on daylilies though, best camera I've had for color. This photo was taken in John Rice's greenhouse. So, I know it is the right Frequent Comment. ![]() |

I used to have Frequent Comment and it looked like the one from John Rice's greenhouse. It was a beige color with yellow eye. I think your second one is the accurate one. Also the one from calif_sue looks like it to me. Your first one looks too pink to me. Dot |

Laura, Frequent Comment is one of my favorite daylilies, in part because it opens beautifully on a cold day (when the temps don't reach 70 degrees), but also because the form is perfect, and the substance is very substantial. Here's one from a cooler day when the rosy color is deeper. Is the substance on both of yours very thick? It's hard to tell from a photo, but the first didn't seem as substantial as the second one. |

Is your blooms a little diamond dusted? I grow FC and it is a fav of mine! I agree it should not be very pink. |

That is interesting to know. I actually like the second one (less pink) better. It does seem to have a bit heavier substance than the other. I do not remember one way or the other about diamond dusting. I will have to check next year. Thanks everyone. At a minimum, I think that I definitely have two different daylilies and need to separate them. |

I just looked back at my pics of FREQUENT COMMENT and the color varies A LOT! These pictures were taken in 2009, 2008 and 2007 from top to bottom. I'm thinking maybe the temp/soil conditions as well as time of day that the photo was taken make a difference. I do think your second photo looks more like what I think it looks like most of the time. Here are a few: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That is a big difference, wow! I will definitely have to keep a eye open next year. The reason I am leaning towards two different daylilies is that they are planted in the same clump and were blooming on the same day, so temp and soil conditions should be identical. There is not even the issue of micro climates, unless a difference of 5" counts! LOL. Once again, thanks everyone for your comments. |

Haha! Maybe that is why it is named "Frequent Comment"!!! ![]() ![]() If I had but two loaves of bread, I would sell one to buy flowers, for they would feed my Soul.--The Koran |
