Thread OP

Hi all! I've had my Hoya compacta for probably 5 years now and been a very neglectful owner. It's done fairly well under my forgetful care — I only water it when I remember/when the soil dries out. I've never fertilized it or repotted it.

I do take it outdoors during the warmer months and bring it indoors when the temperatures drop. Right now it has a couple of clusters of blooms.

Recently I've noticed that the leaves near the base are yellowing and the edges are turning brown. Also, some of the leaves look wrinkled instead of their usual curly, fleshy selves. Is it under watered? Do I need to give it a bit of fertilizer? I'm not sure what's going on, any help is appreciated!!

It's been on a covered patio this summer with north-eastern exposure, so it doesn't get a ton.

I'm thinking that it's been too dry. I think the potting mix is old and has turned into a hydrophobic clump which has prevented the roots from getting enough moisture — I examined the growth tips and they look dead (I pinched them off in the picture)

Gonna try repotting her today in some fresh mix. Crossing Fingers!
