I looked at their awesome selection but resisted. I still have some in pots that need planting and two that were gifted to me this past year from a rose collector from San Diego that also need t be planted. I am so discouraged with the gophers that I don't want to add more beyond what I have right now.

Egads, what have I done! I haven't bought much in the way of new roses in many a year but I caved yesterday. lol! I have wanted Pomponella for several years so I grabbed it along with some oldies, Double Delight, Peace and Folklore. Got a confirmation but then an email that said DD was sold out. I substituted Rina Hugo instead. Then I went over to Regan's site and ordered DD, Memorial Day, Paradise and Koko Loco. Just got an email that KL is sold out there but I'm not going to replace it. 7 new roses in one spring is more than enough for my already crowded garden!

Off to look again!!

In my experience, roses don't like to grow next to telephone poles, or railroad ties, or anything else that was once steeped in creosote.

Calif_Sue, I'm with you on holding off on the ordering from Palatine. But that's only b/c I ordered a ton of roses in fall 2019 from RU and Heirloom, three from Palatine, and five roses from Edmunds in January 2020, and three more from Heirloom in April 2020. I am literally still getting some of these roses in their permanent homes in September 2020, with several more to go! Of course having said that, I did order seven roses from Regan's last week. I'm a hopeless addict.

Zuzu,
On another thread (that I can't find at the moment) you said you order from RVR and worrried that you might have some miss-id. How did that turn out? Have put myself on the waiting list for some and want to be ready (or not)....if it is another thread, please redirect me. Palantine is out of what I wanted already.

Hello, Sandsock. I ordered 16 roses from Rogue Valley last year and 4 were mislabeled: Polly, Cressida, Invitation, and Tootsie. The total could be 5, however, because Etude still hasn't bloomed, so I don't know whether it's the right rose.

Not as bad as Heirloom, which was at 50%. I finally wised up and stopped buying from that nursery. This was years ago, however, and the new owners might be more conscientious. I'll never know because Heirloom's prices now keep me from ordering.

Hey guys! I haven't been on in awhile. So much going on. I got my order with Palatine in within the first half hour. Didn't really order anything was in peril of selling out fast. Figured I'd let everybody else get those for now... Had to replace my FOXY LADY tho! Love that rose, and they had total crop failure on her last yr as I recall. Others I ordered were: ANN HENDERSON (which I wanted to replace last yr, but they didn't have her!), EASY FASHION, MONTE CARLO COUNTRY CLUB, ROBERTO ALAGNA, MEMOIRE, MALICORNE and SWEET DELIGHT. I'll be anxious to see the new NIRP roses.

Hey Zuzu, I've had nothing but trouble with RVR's roses. So many mislabeled ones!! Many of the people over on the FB Rose Chat group have had the same issue. I don't understand how they can stay in business with so many mistakes. They need a better way of inventory control!! Heirloom has been great. I had one mistake on theirs recently tho. But their plants are great quality. But expensive. I always try to wait til they have a sale. Plus I almost always have a "bud & bloom" coupon for $10 off the order.

I was really disappointed by the mislabeled Polly, Beth. I've wanted that rose forever. The one RVR sent was another of those nondescript solid-pink floribundas I'm always sent whenever I order something rare from that nursery.

Beth, I just received four roses from Heirloom today, and they look great: Distant Drums, Ebb Tide, Mme. Isaac Pereire, and Souvenir du President Lincoln. I have just enough time to get them into the ground about six weeks before our first frost, which is the minimum time they recommend. I hope that by planting them now, rather than waiting till next April, I'll get a few additional months' worth of root growth before next spring. We'll see; it's a bit of an experiment as I usually don't do fall rose plantings.

I've had nothing but great service and great roses from Heirloom for many years. I've often read bad reports on them from folks who ordered from them a really long time ago. I started ordering from them when the Clements still owned it with no problem, but most of my purchases have been since the new owners came in. They are expensive, and getting much more expensive in the past year or two. I guess that means their business is doing well. Never a mis-labeled rose, and no virus that I've seen.

Beth, so great to hear from you!

Rogue Valley Roses makes me very nervous. I ordered from them many years ago with no problem. But they "have" several of my most-wanted ultra-rare roses listed that I have been on the waiting list for for more than 5 years. That sends a signal to me that there is an issue there in terms of what they claim to grow and what they actually grow.

I've been wanting the HT Jessica. RVG and hortico are the only ones to carry it. I've been waiting on RVG because if this thread on the one from Hortico.

It's almost too late to plant in my zone too!

I want it this year for sentimental reasons. It's been 20 years this September that I met my best friend Jessica. I thought it would be fun to plant the HT to comemorate the event! Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get it from Hortico.

OMG Zuzu you and I must've gotten the same "NOT" POLLY!

Susan, I had some rare roses on "backorder" from RVR that I never got and they likely never will have. One was VICTORIANA. They listed a rose back in like April purported to be STRIPED JOCELYN. Myself and a bunch of people I know including John Bagnasco and Peter Schneider ordered it, only to find out it was not the correct rose. What is really maddening is they discovered the mistake somehow and only notified John. Probably because of his radio show, they likely didn't want bad press about it. He informed several of us about it and I in turn told Peter, who said he was going to have words with Janet over it. Not sure if he ever did tho. Doesn't do any good. One of the ladies on the Rose Chat group has gone rounds with her over past wrong orders. She refuses to order from them anymore. I would also refuse, but they do have a lot of rare roses that are correct when you can get them. I lost a brand new TERRA COTTA and TANTARRA this summer by placing them out in the full sun too soon, and not anticipating a 114ยบ day... they fried and died. Now I have to wait til they get them in again to replace them yet again! They both had bloomed and were the correct roses. I also want to replace LITTLE GREY PEARL. But, on a really good note... Peter carries VICTORIANA and TOM BROWN, and he is custom propagating those for me for fall of '21.

Hiyamakki... I remember that thread! Didn't remember it this winter when I ordered a replacement JESSIKA from Hortico tho. Lost mine in the fire. I got a somewhat lovely-ish plain pink rose instead of JESSIKA. Emailed Nicole at Hortico about it and she didn't really respond. Guess ordering it again is out of the question now. Hmmm... I should ask Peter if he has JESSIKA. He might.

I didn't think of Peter! I should check if he has Jessica and maybe Acropolis too. I had really been hoping to get Jessica this year. If I order from Peter I'll have to wait until fall 2022 which means no flowers until 2023!

I believe he had this Jessica at one point. Please let us know if he has the HT and anything else. https://www.helpmefind.com/ros...
