I posted earlier about seedlings blooming in their first year from being planted. There have been 7 here so far and I think that will be it. Most have been out of Vanilla Stella, which kind of makes sense; but a few were from tet crosses.

I've been staring at the bud on this one for 3 days, wishing for it to open and today it did. For me, it was worth the wait!!

While, we're on the subject of this one, if my wonderfully helpful daylily people can describe the colors on this one, that would be lovely.

Thanks all.

I measured the bloom at 5.5" which surprised me because it seemed larger to me.

It looks like Vermilion Red with voluptuously ruffled, triple colored petal edges. Edge colors are repeated in a blushed sunshine watermark.

Well done Pat!

Very impressive! On my monitor, it reminds me of a light raspberry red. Seems like I see a hint of purple or blue undertones. An advanced description search for 'raspberry red' on AHS brought up 'Doris Stonska', 'Elizabeth Sue', and many others. But oh my, the variation of colors describing raspberry red is very broad.

It has a definite double edge. The soft yellow outer edge with a light lilac inner edge. Bright red veins. The eye is interesting i see an array of colors in it. I really like this flower. Still wondering did it open well?

I thought I could see blush, yellow and a slight gold cord edge...I have been wrong once. Hilarious!
Here's Vermilion Red for monitor and comparison.

So, if you look at a pile of cranberries, the under ripe ones are about this color of red. Can I call this cranberry?

Pat call it whatever you want Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing just put me down on the list for this one nodding
It is a little premature, but it is prettier than its famous pollen parent in my eyes. I am giving you five 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟 on this one. It obviously have vigor to bloom in your zone on such a short notice. Pat do you use a greenhouse or do you start them indoors ?
