Your photo intrigued me, so I did a little research. You probably already know all this, so I'm really just sharing the info with others who might read this comment. The USDA website has some alarming information about this being classed as a noxious weed, invasive, and even banned in numerous states, including Connecticut, where this was photographed. That's the reason when I proposed a data edit, I only supplied the fact that it's an annual, and grass or grass-like. I didn't feel it was appropriate to provide growing conditions for a plant that shouldn't be grown intentionally anywhere in this country. I wish garden.org provided options for indicating alien, invasive status for plants in their database. - Elizabeth

You can certainly add your opinion re invasiveness in the comments section of the plant. I would encourage you to be specific re your location, often plants are invasive in one area but not another. I disagree with your statement that one shouldn't grow it intentionally anywhere, or that we should not include growing conditions in the database. It's a plant. It grows.

Edited to add: I would like to see our database include the area of origin for all plants, particularly for those that are not cultivars. I think it would be helpful.

Start a thread in Site Talk and bring that up. If it's possible they might go for it. Smiling

Everyone is free to add data to any plant in the database. I think I do more than my share of this. Feel free to update this plant if you think it deserves it. The USDA site I referenced said that it is on the noxious weed list in 46 states (including mine, Michigan). That pretty much covers it.

"...if you think it deserves it..." How strange is that? Not trying to pick a fight, but really, just add a comment to the database about the invasive factor and/or your personal angst with it. Seems to be an east coast issue per USDA https://www.invasivespeciesinf... Not trying to downplay invasive species, we have feather reed grass on the west side of the country, but the intent of the database is to provide factual growing information on plants.
