I guess it is time to start taking in cuttings. I am back and forth on whether I want to do it. Just wondering how everyone's coleus did this year and what are you bringing in? How about Alternanthera, Iresine, Plectranthus, Acalyphas, Purple Shields, Perilla and the like? Do you grow those too?
I am thinking everyone's coleus is nice and full by now. Any pictures?
I'll start with Ruby Punch, a new one for me this year. I have yet to take a good picture of it.

I brought in all the coleus and the one plectranthus. I don't have the others you mentioned. Mine are in a frightful state due to my own neglect. I hope to revive them over winter and should know how they fared by mid-February.

Any plants we want to keep should be brought inside when indoor and outdoor temperatures are similar. That's mid-September here.

I took cuttings earlier this week. Most look good. Some not so much. Houseplants are now all back indoors.

It always looks fantastic when you bring in those vases full of different kinds of coleus. I like it so much, I tend to leave them there until they are waterlogged. Plus I have other plants that take up space and they are all getting big.
Here is Mighty Mosaic I found totally stressed out and neglected this summer. It recovered nicely. This one I want to bring in because I don't see it typically.

Purple Shield is on its own. I've tried to overwinter this one a few times but it has gotten buggy and ugly. I've always wanted to do a mass planting of these under purple beautyberry but I guess it won't happen. If I can't overwinter it, I am not going to buy a bunch of these each year.

Here is Watermelon. It is a cute one. I usually don't get these types that look like they were grown from seed because next to the others, I lose interest in them. But this one has held up to me.

And this one too. I am not sure if it is named.

And this iresine.

But maybe not this one. But maybe one or two cuttings.

Take the cuttings. You can always ditch them later if they look awful.

My cuttings are looking much happier. Those outside are right up against the house on the south side. No damage yet. Other plants out in the open have had some mild frost damage but not dead.

I like that plectranthus, Allison. Had I seen this picture first, I would own it. They have it at Bountiful Gardens where I went this weekend. All you pots are beautiful. The torenia at the base looks good.
Gary, I'm glad your cuttings are perking up. Did you put them in dirt or water?

I was not successful with water last year. This year it is dirt.

That is very kind of you. I will let you know and visa versa if there's anything you see. I don't have shiny shoes anymore though. It didn't make coming indoors at all last year.

The cuttings in dirt under lights are looking great. Quite a refreshing sight at this time of year.

Yes always rewarding.. my outside stuff just got whacked 2 nights ago.. happy they lasted this long

Mine are all gone. I did take some cuttings in but they aren't stable yet.

My plants are in and doing ok .. didn't get cuttings yet with Halloween going full speed here .. now Christmas display will be starting after we tear down

Allison, did you bring the whole pot in? I did that last year but I also had a lot of infestations last year so I was less inclined to do that again.
