Can you tell me if this is a Rose Of Sharon? It grows well in hot summers and snowy winters. It is about 5 ft by 5 ft. It doesn't look like others I see in nursery's or yards. Mostly what I see are large bushes with small, maybe 2 in. violet with red inside flowers and small leaves. This one has very large green leaves about 4 in. and the flowers are 3-4 in. The flowers are violet with red inside. They drop every night. I originally thought it could be a hardy hibiscus. Just not sure. If any one knows the variety I would really like to know. I have searched the internet and cannot find it.
Thanks.

Hi NWyard, Welcome!

The leaves don't look right to me for Roses of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) They remind me more of Alcea or possibly Malva but I'm just not sure. I'll move this over to the Plant Idenfification forum where it will get more views and I'm sure someone will recognize it!

It might be Hibiscus mutabilis or H. paramutabilis.

Thumbs up to janinilulu's suggestions! Here are our database entries for both where you can see photos for comparison:
Confederate Rose (Hibiscus mutabilis)
Hibiscus (Hibiscus paramutabilis)

Please keep the ideas coming! So far, it is not any of the suggestions. The flower is identical to those on a rose of sharon, just larger. The leaves are very large. Thx! I really want to buy one of these. This one was from our house in Colorado. I could not find it there. Now I live in Idaho and want to have one for here.

The H. Paramutabilis photos are mine and they are incorrect. I need to have them removed.

I can't say for sure but I'm thinking it could be Hibiscus 'Tosca' which is supposed to be a cross between Hibiscus paramutabilis and Hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon).

I still think it's probably Tosca. Check this photo, I think it matches yours. It's about the same color, blooms are identical to Rose of Sharon but larger and the leaves appear to be the same.

It really does look like and fit with the description of Hibiscus 'Tosca'.
