I am now starting the 16th Daylily of the Day poll .... If you want to continue to review cultivars, please add some daylily names in a post on this thread!

The last poll we had was way back in January 2020. I am asking members to please pick cultivars that they OWN. The more members that own a cultivar, the better (to have numerous evaluations). Please make sure that you post the correct name and spelling of the cultivars you list. You can list up to 20 cultivars that you actually own and are willing to post an evaluation for when the cultivar is featured as the Daylily of the Day. (A new cultivar will be posted every other day.)

List your 20 (or less) cultivars with just the full cultivar name only!
Example List:

Beautiful Edgings
Wind Wishes
Awesome Blossom

And don't forget that you can post an evaluation at any time to any of the Daylily of the Day threads. An acorn will be awarded for each evaluation. You can post "annual" evaluations of any cultivars at least a year after your previous evaluation of that cultivar. (And earn another acorn tip!) Previously featured Daylilies of the Day cultivar threads can be found in this forum. They are listed in alphabetical order: https://garden.org/barn/potd/a...

Please check the above link, to make sure that any cultivars you list have not already been a featured daylily of the day cultivar, before adding to your list. Thanks!

This poll will end on Sunday, November 22, 2020.

Thanks for helping choose more cultivars for evaluations!!! We appreciate your help and enthusiasm! Thank You!

REMEMBER - YOU can earn an acorn for each evaluation of both current and past cultivars if they are new evaluations or your evaluation is a year apart from your last evaluation of any cultivars. (NOTE: If, for some reason, you don't receive an acorn for an evaluation, please tree-mail me so that I can make sure that you do get an acorn.)

If there is little interest in keeping the Daylily of the Day feature going with more cultivars, then I will request that Dave discontinue it going forward.

I do like the daylily of the day feature.

i usually comment if I have the daylily, but i like the ones that i do not have even more.

maybe having a theme every month or so would make it even more interesting. Like tall, short, tets, blue...

or maybe a different breeder each month...

I am a HUGE fan of DOTD. I've been cruising through the list, and I find it immensely informative and helpful. Let me run through my list of things I bought this year and see if any of them has been featured before. Most of them should flower for me next summer...

Maybe a list from this years or last years Award Winners. hat would be a good way to build a list for DoTD

I love the daylily of the day threads and use them before I buy a daylily. Often daylilies do not measure up to their stats, so great way to see how they do for other people without trying to search for individual threads. I just wish more people posted their comments. I will make a list when I have time to look through my list for daylilies that have not already been done

I too am a huge fan of D of TD. These posts are a super helpful guide.

I need to see which ones have been already been featured before posting a list.

I have close to 200 daylilies, it would take me days to determine which ones have been on the day lily of the day?

It's not that bad. Start at the top of your list ( I just used photos from this year, in order of appearance). There's a search this forum tab, where you type in the name of your contender. If it's already been done move on to your next one ( or stop and fill out the one that has been done, if you haven't posted to it yet.... that was last night's project.)

I went through my "Have" list in my profile, clicked on the link next to the name of the daylily, and it says right below the picture at the far right whether it was the Daylily of the Day. Then scrolled down to see how many others had it in their list. I had two windows open so I could add the names to the list here while I searched on the other window.

Frank - I would start by picking your top favorite 20 daylily cultivars.

You can check to see if they have already been featured by skimming down through this list of the Daylily of the Day Archive: https://garden.org/barn/potd/a...
(They are in order alphabetically by cultivar name, so that should make it easier for you.) If they are NOT on the list, that means that they have never been featured and would be a good cultivar to put on your list.

Thanks to everyone for your positive reply wishing to continue this daylily evaluation feature.

Siloam's Double Classic was the first named daylily I ever bought and is still one of my favorites. I enjoy the pink-to-peach shading. It always does well. It is still one of the most beautiful up-close daylilies I have seen. It's also substantial, despite being fragile looking. But it is almost impossible to breed--the necessary 'part' is hidden by all the folds of the center!
