The fungus among us !
The remains of an old oak tree that was removed years ago treated us to a colorful display of fungus this year (2017).

An amazing banner, subject which I've never seen so well presented, beautiful and mysterious at the same time.

It's easy to forget the role fungi play in our environment, so this is a fun, colorful reminder. Always great to see additional variety in the site banner subjects, too. Kudos on both counts

Great banner, Rick! I grabbed my mushroom book to see what it might be. Chanterelles? Lactarius?

Laurie, if it helps, I get these clusters in two areas where oak trees once stood. In both cases, the come up at the drip line from rhododendron.
