I have tried a couple different ways to propagate peperomia by leaf.

Propagation box with vermiculite was a failure.
Water was a failure.
Indoors under a grow light on moist soil was a failure.

I finally found a way that works in South Florida. On soil that I let dry out between waterings and some good morning light. I put 4 Frost Peperomia leaves in this pot and 2 grew new plants!

PILEA: I'm also trying to propagate mature Pilea peperomioides leaves. I'm not seeing a new plant but the leaf is standing up in search of the sun, which is a good sign. I've got it in my propagation box on moist vermiculite. I'm hoping to see a new plant before the 'not hot' weather arrives. I'm not expecting it, though, as the information about this plant waffles on whether or not you can grow new plants just from leaves.

And, it works for Peperomia obtusifolia too!

I'm assuming the variegation won't continue, though. You usually need to propagate via stem cutting for that.

EDIT: As expected, the pilea were a failure.

Fascinating! If you try again, try to separate the leaf with "heel" of stem attached to the petiole.

@purpleinopp I'll give that a try on my next attempts.

I think you would enjoy rooting a big Coleus leaf in a vase. I've never gotten a plant from it, but they can stay alive for months and make a lot of roots.

Browsing around this forum to get my thoughts a little more organized about what I should propagate this spring. That seems to be when I do most of my propagation. I had completely forgotten to try individual Pep leaves since last visiting this discussion. How are your plants doing at this point? I'm trying to stick to smaller plants, when it comes to making more of anything.

I had a big die-off during the extreme temperatures of last year. We were over 100F for a couple months there with no rain at all, not even morning dew as the overnight temperatures never got low enough. I lost most of my peperomia as I have extremely limited indoor space and few working outlets. Also, the homeowner has done his best to remove most shade options in his yard. Its brutal. A few of my Peperomia obtusifolia did make it. I'm hoping to rebuild my Peperomia collection once I am in a better living situation.
