No need, lol. Its grows native a hundred fiftyish miles south of us and is winter-hardy here (Zone 4b/5a). Given dry/well-drained winter conditions, it might go full Zone 4. High Country Gardens seems to think so: https://www.highcountrygardens...

I do sometimes dig M. jalapa in the fall and put the roots in the basement for the winter. (They overwinter outside at our friend's house [15-20 miles north of us], next to the foundation on the south-facing exposure; but we don't have an exposure like that ourselves.) This year, just to see what happens, I dug the M. longiflora and stashed them in the basement.

Wow Thomas Jones! What a beautiful space! I especially like this one:

I was just scrolling through my 2020 photos of which there are almost three thousand, and realized I've taken almost no plant photos this year! They are almost entirely of animals... mostly insects and birds in the garden. I guess I've only been taking plant photos if it's something I'm trying to identify, or if it's a new plant and I want to add some images of it to the plant database here. I do have a few though.

This is the "Aster NOID likely drummond's" I have listed in the swap. The flowers are so delicate and pretty in the fall.
Thumb of 2020-12-04/molanic/b9228e

This is a very pretty tiny geranium that I'm still not sure on the ID. I have just a few seeds I could list, but I was going to go out and see if it had any more I missed. I had this labeled as "wild petunia" and I likely got the seed in one of these swaps in 2016-2017. I put photos of it on the plant id forum and everyone thinks it is a wild geranium, but I'm still not sure which one. Hopefully it comes back next year. Unfortunately I think I planted it on an ant hill!
