I'm looking for a used DLSR camera and I'll need to buy it online. I know what I want. Have any members ever bought a camera or equipment from B&H, Adorama or Ebay? Obviously I'd be checking out the product and/or seller as much as possible, but this sight-unseen method makes me nervous.

Any thoughts or recommendations about online camera sources?

Thanks,.

Hi Zoe -

You might also consider KEH https://www.keh.com or MPB https://www.mpb.com/en-us/. Both companies focus on used camera equipment so there tends to be a lot more to choose from than the other companies you mentioned.

I had one excellent experience with MPB when I bought a used "like new" macro lens. It was definitely as described. A second purchase wasn't so good because they sent the wrong lens but quickly corrected the mistake.

I've bought a few inexpensive camera items from B&H and had a good experience. I had to return something and their customer service was great. I was considering buying a used lens from B&H they rated a "10" or like new but decided to buy it brand new from another camera store that offered a great package deal on Amazon.

You need to compare the warranties offered by each company and the return policy in case you don't like your purchase.

Hope that helps!
Ann

Thanks for your thoughts, Ann. I quickly eliminated eBay. B&H had two of what I was looking for and I hesitated for a few hours (to seek some opinions and to write the above post) and they'd both sold when I returned. So it took me a couple of days to learn the ropes.

I found what I wanted on Adorama and am happy to report excellent customer service assistance. I should receive my camera this week, and we'll see. Crossing Fingers!
I'll eventually be looking for accessories and lenses so will also explore MPB. Thanks again.

Just saw this, so am happy that you have found a camera!

I have bought from B&H several times, for myself and for work use. I have always had a good experience with them.

I've also purchased from B&H many times for at least the last 6+ years and they are great to purchase from and very reliable. They have great customer service, and accept returns without any hassles. I've purchased several cameras and accessories, as well as many computer parts and never had a complaint about them or their service ever.

I originally started buying from B&H Photo when you could save and not have to pay sales tax when purchasing from another state. Their sales prices are really good, good enough to keep me buying from them even though I now have to pay sales tax.
