| Christmas Cheer Meserve Holly (Ilex 'Blue Girl'): this is such a nice holly for color, easy growth and decoration. It is grown on either male or female plants requiring both for pollination. The male is Meserve Holly (Iles 'Blue Boy') which pollinates, but does not bear fruit.  Even a fool, when he shuts his mouth, is counted (as being) wise.Proverbs 17:28 MY BLOG |

They had to do this I think to make sure there were no unhappy customers---If you only bought a male or only a female, you wouldn't get any fruit. Need both for fruit, so they gave different names to different genders, and the customers buy at least one of each. |
