Christmas Cheer

Meserve Holly (Ilex 'Blue Girl'): this is such a nice holly for color, easy growth and decoration. It is grown on either male or female plants requiring both for pollination. The male is Meserve Holly (Iles 'Blue Boy') which pollinates, but does not bear fruit.

So interesting that the growers gave different cultivar names to the male and female plants. This make a wonderful seasonal banner.

Great banner Leon!
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Beautiful banner!

We had a holly tree back at our previous house, and I definitely miss it. Hollies are so beautiful, especially the one in your banner. Speaking of the picture, may we see either the full picture, or just a picture of the entire plant please?

And I agree with Fleur, good to see you back!

They had to do this I think to make sure there were no unhappy customers---If you only bought a male or only a female, you wouldn't get any fruit. Need both for fruit, so they gave different names to different genders, and the customers buy at least one of each.

Leon's last post was a month ago. Here's hoping he's just busy and will be checking back in soon.

FYI, there are hundreds of banners in the queue and they usually are set with their run dates months in advance.

Thank you, Leon...
for all your kind comments & encouragements, beautiful banners.
You were always gracious, helpful, and positive to everyone.

I would not be growing marigolds but for you. I tip my hat to you.
They will always remind me of you.

Godspeed my friend.
