Hello,
I am looking for irises with the word Marble in them. I found two that I really like from the database.

Any feedback on their vigor and growth habits, if you happen to grow them? Other suggestions (does not have to be an iris)? Any feedback on where to buy the Japanese iris, or if it would do well in San Diego?

Hello!

I usually don't post in the Iris forum, but I wanted to try to be a bit of help. Just from searching "marble iris" in the database, a lot of results came up, but here are a few I thought were pretty: Smiling

Hope you find the ones that are perfect for you!

I was thinking about Marble Cake, but pink has got to be my least favorite color. Arilbreds should do better in San Diego, but they hate me. Thank you @KFredenburg!

Twilight Marble didn't survive the first year, sorry. Mine came from a vendor no longer in business.

I don't know of other plants that include "marble". Good luck on your search.

I love the one Kim found!

Olga, is it only the word "marble" that you like? Or perhaps is it that you are looking for broken colors. If the latter, you could simply check "broken" in the iris database to get an entire list of iris having broken colors.

@pirl Thank you! It is gorgeous, but I am not sure Japanese irises would have handled our hot summers well anyway.

@DaisyDo I have a number of broken colors and love all of them. 'Millennium Falcon' is absolutely stunning, as was 'Spiced Tiger' before it bloomed out. I am specifically looking for irises with the word Marble in their name right now.

Olga, I just looked up pictures in the PD of 'Spiced Tiger' and 'Millennium Falcon', and they are both gorgeous. However, I think that 'Spiced Tiger' is definitely one of the most beautiful irises I have seen.

@KFredenburg Yes, 'Spiced Tiger' was amazing. I keep meaning to replace it every spring, but by the time I remember it is usually sold out. My mom was not a fan of it, but she liked 'Millennium Falcon' when it finally flowered this year. I like broken colors because no two blooms are ever the same. I also like the roses 'Neil Diamond' and 'Scentimental' for the same reason.

Sutton has a 2021 intro called Purple Marble. But they are not yet open for sales.

@lauriemorningglory Purple Marble is amazing! It would be perfect, although it is pricey as a 2021 introduction. Does Sutton offer their introductions as freebies like some others do? Peggy Anne was on my wish list, but this might replace it.
Thank You! !!! Hurray!

Olga, I've never ordered from Sutton's so don't know their policy on gift iris. It's hard to resist a beautiful new intro, isn't it? Smiling

psst...they are open now, and Purple Marble really might just be exactly what you need Smiling

They do send amazing rhizomes, and nice bonuses! However, you cannot count on the bonus to be what you wish for, sadly.

On some, seeing it next year right where I want it, is worth it Lovey dubby and way better than waiting more years Hilarious!
