At 4:12pm ET today our data center completely lost power. I couldn't believe it. It has battery backups and even a diesel generator but somehow they failed to keep the power running and we were completely offline for over 30 minutes as a result.

We're back up now and hopefully I'll have an explanation from them soon about what happened.

LOL, I'm glad I was outside with the dogs and that we weren't offline for very long ... I always get a bit panicked when I lose garden.org for even a few minutes! Green Grin!

I was gone too, fortunately. I always think I wrecked something whenever a website doesn't work. Rolling my eyes.

Ouch. Something must have gone seriously wrong for the redundant systems to fail as well.

I think someone in the data center must have just tripped over a power cord.

In all seriousness, I still don't have an answer on what happened. We're in Carrier-1 in Dallas which has provided us 100% uptime for over 2 years so I've been happy until this event. Anyway, a 30 minute outage isn't Armageddon but it's not what we pay for, either.
