Just minutes ago I did a search on "pinus parviflora" and was told there was no such plant in the database. Here's the url for that search
https://garden.org/plants/sear...
and the message
No plants were found for your search.

Then I did a search on the common name, Japanese white pine (url for that search)
https://garden.org/plants/sear...
and all the expected planted were found, including the one for my initial failed search
Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora)
and cultivars thereof.

What's going on??? Confused

@Dave, I just tried it too, got the same results.
Then I did a search with just 'Pinus' and got 1 result. Blinking Just one!

The problem doesn't appear to be limited to this Pine. Best I can tell, any search that uses a specific epithet will fail. Searches using the name of a genus will return a very incomplete list.

This is a new bug. These types of searches worked properly as recently as yesterday.

Possibly a glitch from earlier this afternoon when the garden.org system was down.

Garden.org Admin

That was related to the outage. Our search engine was offline. I've restarted it and all should be well now. Thank you for the report!
