Exquisite but Ephemeral

Each bloodroot bloom lasts a scant day at its prime, before petals start for fall, but this has been my favorite woodland spring wildflower from the moment I first saw one.

And I can see why. They must glow in the sunlight against a dark background.

I remember finding these in the woods when I was a kid, picking them and getting the red sap all over my hands. We used to paint our faces with it like we were wild Indians in war paint. Hilarious!

Besides seeing your beautiful banners, I'm increasing my vocabulary......loved your poetic adjective "Ephemeral". Fits this little bloom so well.

Heartfelt thanks to all of you who took the time to comment of my self-indulgent bloodroot banner, or even just to give it a thumbs up. Much appreciated.
Thank You! ❤🤍❤
