Welcome to The Porch Swing!

Everyone is welcome to join us on the Porch Swing. A thread where we talk about cooking, books, pets, birthdays, TV, the area where we live, anything that isn't on topic for the regular daylily threads. The subject on the Porch Swing is always changing.

Don't worry about reading all of the thread, just jump right in. We're sure you'll enjoy visiting with us.

We have many threads covering a wide variety of information on the topic of Daylilies. The Daylily Forum has two threads for off topic discussion - Weather In Your Garden for weather related chat and The Porch Swing for all non-daylily messages and chat.

When a new Porch Swing thread is posted, the old Porch Swing threads will be left up for a few days, then periodically deleted, so be sure to copy any items out of the old thread that you want to keep when you see a new thread is up.

* All other off topic threads will be relocated to the appropriate Forum. If you inadvertently post an off topic thread to the forum, please let us know and we'll move it into its proper place, and if we see it before you do, we'll let you know by Tree-mail that we moved the thread.*

We made it, first day of Spring 2021! With it comes hope that by bloom season we''ll be able to get together again for daylily gatherings and garden visits.

We had our first family outing in a year as we hauled the DD's and the GK's to the Davey Dogwood Park in Palestine, TX [#palestinetx] to hike the Fairy Garden Trail and have a real outdoor picnic. Weather not the best but a good time was had by all.

Difficult to photograph because there is very little contrast but in the landscape it is striking.

I borrowed Sue's post from a different thread to start my post here. It's time I get back in the Porch Swing loop.
petruske said:I got my second covid shot on Thursday. After about 12 hours I started running a low grade fever. Went to bed that night with the chills and lots of aches. Kept taking Advil every six hours (starting before I got the shot). I'd recommend that just in case. At 2AM I woke up with a fever of 101 and felt like I was hit by a truck. But today, other than a sore arm I feel pretty good!!
I go for an pre-OR procedure COVID-19 test this afternoon, and for my 2nd COVID vaccine shot tomorrow afternoon. The surgeon said not to resched Dose 2, so I hope I don't have the same Dose 2 reaction you did, Sue.

I have my procedure in the OR on Weds. It's not surgical, but it's being done by a surgeon with anesthesia. Botox shots somewhere you might not think they'd put them. 😳 I seriously hope the vaccine doesn't mess things up.

Ken, I had the second shot on 3/12. My arm was somewhat sore for 2 days and that was about it. I think I had a headache for 10 min. (I usually don't get them) and a slight fever for an hour or two. That was it. I felt fine the second day and went out and weeded for 4 hours.

I got my second shot and within six hours I had ordered another daylily.

Be careful out there (Hill Street Blues)

I'm scheduled for March 31. I admit that I'm nervous.
Yesterday a nurse in front of Walmart was doing testing for the UK variant. I didn't want to but I caved in.

Any excuse, uh, reason will do.
My best one is - I ordered more hibiscus, and the daylilies and irises feel left out, so I'll have to order some of them too. nodding

I haven't used that one, but I sense it may work in the reverse for me this year. "I've added so many new daylilies that my hibiscus feel woebegone. I shall find them some new companions." Angel
