I would especially do that if I brought home a really tall plant lol

Today when I was changing the water for my rosemary cuttings, I found roots on all of them. I didn't think they would root because the branches are very woody. I'll plant them in my herb garden in Spring.

Rosemary bushes are so great! So little care needed! My rosemary has some blooms on it now and the early butterflies are enjoying the nectar! Not much blooming right now otherwise, just a trailing lantana mainly. Spring...hoping for spring weather and rain!

I really do like rosemary, its a really pretty plant and smells great. I didn't know they bloomed this early. I only have a few calendulas that are blooming right now. I always thought they were annuals. I really hope we see a lot of rain this Spring.

Blooming right now, it is... don't you just love a willing bloomer.

So Cameron, tell us how you rooted your cuttings ~ blow by blow please? I've tried and never been successful. The only way I've managed rooting them is to weight a branch down on soil with a rock and it will sometimes develop roots.Thumb of 2013-02-01/pod/f55a5f

Those flowers are so beautiful Kristi. I was really shocked when I saw the roots. I tried rooting rosemary cuttings a few years ago but I wasn't successful. I just took the cuttings and put them in a jar of hot water. Then I added a few drops of peroxide and a drop of Superthrive. I changed the water every 3-4 days or when the water was low. I had them in a sunny window above my kitchen sink. I wasn't expecting them to root, I just wanted to keep the cuttings alive until I could use them for cooking. The roots formed all along the trunk.

How long ago since you took those cutting? Curious if there is a better time of year... and you said wood stalks?

A friend gave me the cuttings on the 21st of January. The stalks look like this

You're welcome Kristi. I really hope you are successful the next time. I found some of the roots had shriveled up towards the middle of the cutting. Hopefully they'll produce more roots.
