Hello, fellow gardeners! I have some cumin seed that I am hoping to sow indoors, but I recently read that it requires at least 60 degree temperatures overnight. I am in Zone 8, but the highest nighttime temperatures we get in my neck of the woods in summer is in the low 50s even though the daytime temperatures are in the 80s, 90s, and sometimes just over 100.

Have any of you happened to have success with cumin growing under these types of conditions? My area has just reached the low 40s at nighttime right now, and the average last frost date is May 15. I was going to sow indoors this week, but now I'm wondering if that will be futile. What are your thoughts about this?

Thank you!

6 weeks before last frost date sow indoors. Haven't grown cumin- ahh, not native to Texas. My herbs here are having a very bountiful season, hence a great year for herbs. Hopefully the same for you!
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

Thank you, kittriana! I'm glad to hear the herbs are doing well in your neck of the woods! I started the cumin seeds despite uncertainty of their success in my area. They haven't sprouted yet, but I'm hoping they might pop up soon.
