I had a couple of hrs notice to do this with things I had in my garden and happen to have one sympathy cross left that came in a two pack for donated arrangement I had carnation then ran and bought some hydrangea for a donation arrangement. Although ,it wasn't until after I got back after delivery to the funeral home did I look up the floral meaning of hydrangea. I wasn't delighted and quite embarrassed to learn this.
Also I kind of wished I hadn't agreed to do it. I suppose I've got a lot of research to do to make sympathy display and bouquet even if it is with my own flowers. Just didn't look very good either.

I think it looks pretty good - very good, on short notice, with no time to do research or choose appropriate materials.
It can be tricky, doing special occasion arrangements - so much cultural background to consider. You need some lead-time!

Great job, I think it's absolutely lovely! Flowers may symbolize different things to different cultures but at funerals I think most folks notice the beauty of the arrangements but they aren't really focusing on a particular meaning of the types of flowers used. I did a quick google search and read that Hydrangea can symbolize and represent anything from heartfelt emotion, gratitude, beauty and grace, to frigidity and bad luck. Any arrangement that contained Hydrangea for a funeral of one of my loved ones, I'd consider heartfelt emotion.
