Hello, we recently had an existing walkway refinished and as you can see in the image it is ~4 inches above the lawn. I want to put shrubs in front of it. My question is should I raise the yard to the level of the walkway or just plant the shrubs in front at the current level. Also, would anyone have a suggestion for what shrub would look good to go in front of the path? I tip my hat to you.

Welcome to the site!

A picture and a general location would be helpful.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

It is not letting me upload the picture. I don't know why.
