This is not my garden, but one I saw in Hickory, NC, this weekend when I was visiting my mom. The Lady Banksia is eating the house! But isn't it lovely?![]() I think that if ever a mortal heard the voice of God it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. ~F. Frankfort Moore, A Garden of Peace |
That's a sweet cottage. Banksias do eat houses, but they're easy to prune, luckily, because they have no thorns. That's either Love or Snowfire, Angie. It's hard to tell them apart, but Snowfire has killer thorns, whereas Love has plain garden-variety thorns. I have to get Molineux. It's so pretty. |

Zuzu - do you think that that one that might be Love also might be Ronald Reagan? Personally, I think that JP just renamed Love to RR, but, how do I know! :) Roses are one of my passions! Just opened, my Etsy shop (to fund my rose hobby)! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Tweet... |
I think the reverse on Ronald Reagan isn't as white, but I don't grow it, so I'm not sure. I actually have been wanting to buy Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan for the last couple of years. Not sure why I haven't. Maybe I'll get them at Regan's half-price sale this year. Or maybe J&P will have a big bankruptcy sale. According to HMF, Ronald Reagan and Snowfire have a "mild" fragrance, whereas Love has a "strong" fragrance. I know it's all relative, but maybe that's a good way to figure out which one you have. |

Zu and Tony: I'll check the rose out for fragrance and thorns and get back to you. If I remember, it doesn't have that many thorns, certainly not the killer type that GJ and New Dawn have. The Banksias I saw this weekend were covered in blossoms and just stunning! Maybe I need one of those?
