My friend gave me a piece that fell off her staghorn. It's been a few weeks and I plan to attach it to a tree but in the mean time, I think it got too much direct sun. By looking at this picture, does it look like it can be saved?

It is very hard to kill a staghorn fern. I would try attaching it to a tree where it does not get a lot of sun.

Good to know! That was the plan but I didn't know if it might be dead. Should I cut off the damaged frond? Thank you!

You can cut the damaged frond up to the green. When it recuperates you can trim more. Now, position it so that it gets only dappled sun.

I think it will be ok if you can get it in a shady place, and give plenty of water. I used to water my outdoor ones daily.
