I just moved to a new house and discovered peonies in my yard - which was a lovely surprise because they're my favorite! Only thing is, they're dying and I don't know why. I suspect from root rot from too much water? Do you have any advice on how to solve this problem? Should I aerate and/or replace the surrounding soil? The area where it is planted is very moist but the surrounding plants seem fine, including another peony bush that's thriving. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It appears you might have botrytis. Pull the mulch away from the crown, of the plant. It shouldn't touch the stems.

I will let the others post as to what you can spray on the plant to help it.

Thanks so much! If that is indeed the case, now I need recommendations on which fungicide to use. I ended up making one at home with baking soda and dishwasher soap and spraying the bush down with it. Hope that works!

That's what I sprayed on my SB and it recovered nicely. Today I sprayed the same stuff on my Krinkled white peonies.

Thanks that's good to know! I just bought 'Bonide - Ready to Use Neem Oil, Insect Pesticide for Organic Gardening' and 'Bonide - Sulfur Plant Fungicide'. Hopefully they will help also.

Welcome to the site!
It would help if we knew your general location, think it can go in the profile page.
