Thread OP

Hi! I just received my first hoya ever in the mail! It's a Hoya Sp Aff Burtoniae. It has these spots on it that look like slightly pitted brown dots. They're on both the top and underneath about a third of the leaves. I have it quarantined from my other plants for now because I'm afraid of spreading mites or fungus if it ends up being one of those.

Welcome!

Where are you located and where did the Hoya come from. It looks like edemat to me but...

It could be that your plant is a fairly recent import from Thailand. Or at least a cutting from a recent import. Meaning, it may have been living outside in a jungley situation before coming to the US to be babied. Smiling I've gotten some with those marks over the last few years. I never saw mites or fungus. I've purchased a few directly from Thailand and lost several--mostly because I didn't realize I should keep them in high humidity for a week or two to get them adapted. Good luck. Quarantine never hurt anything.
