I'm searching for an old 1950's variety called Happy Birthday. My Grandma and Mom had it, and I remember it well and would love to add it to my garden. I can't find it at any of the retail sellers, and it's not on the HIPS guardian gardens list, so not sure if it exists anymore or not- is it known by anyone here? Thanks for any help, happy to be here!

Sounds like a question for someone who's into historic irises. Let's see if maybe @blueflagfan or @crowrita1 has time to drop in this time of year? Crossing Fingers!

I grow an iris I received as 'Happy Birthday'. It's a good grower here. However, years after I received it (and after I've shared it with a few people and entered a photo into the database), someone told me they thought 'Happy Birthday' had more pink tones, while my iris is more peachy. It may be 'Happy Birthday', but I stopped sharing it "just in case" its not. Envoybt6, do you remember your Mom's 'Happy Birthday' to be more peach or more pink?

The database says, "peach".

Hi! I'm sorry I missed your kind reply! I recall it as a pale pink toned flower, but it's been so long I couldn't say exactly. I do know the descriptions are for a more peachy color, so yours may well be correct. But definitely the orange beard.
