@Aerith, if you try adding a plant from your plant list, it's a little more limited as far as search result. The way I do it is in the menu bar, click the plants database, see the box that says
Visit our plant-specific databases:, select one like Roses and once you are on the Rose database page, use the search box to find your rose. As you start typing, a dropdown menu will appear with suggested roses based on what you've typed so far. Once you find the correct plant (if t's in the database, not all are yet), you click the blue 'add this plant to your list' button.
