Should I plant red or orange bromeliads in my garden to attract hummingbirds? I am not sure but my significant other loves hummingbirds and I love exotic plants. I am currently in Maine where I have been for nearly 5 months but I am moving to the beautiful city of Port St Bermudez soon which is zone 11a in the part I will be in.

Life is better when you look at it from different perspectives and angles. The grey, cold, winter becomes a happy holiday season with hot cocoa and firelight and the death becomes a new life.

I just don't know if you can plant enough bromeliads to consistently attract them.

Bromeliads in my mind don't bloom often enough to be a reliable source of nectar. But it might be worth a shot. It's life cycle is to bloom and die. The new pups take time to mature and bloom.
But if you look at other plants or shrubs that bloom far more often like lantana, would that be better? Maybe tropical Hibiscus might be a better choice? Interesting idea though.

Petunias, Four O'clock and salvias will attract hummingbirds. You can also plant bromeliads but I never seen a hummingbird going for them.
