I planted three own-root 'Savannah' bushes from Chamblee's Rose Nursery in spring, 2016. I enjoyed beautiful foliage and wonderfully fragrant blooms intermittently from June 7 through early fall without the use of any pesticides. The blooms did not suffer brown edges as did 'Beverly' and 'Wedding Bells'. However, as fall progressed, 'Savannah' stopped blooming, in contrast to 'Beverly' an 'Wedding Bells', which began to bloom profusely. Based on one season in my zone 6b Pennsylvania garden, it seems that 'Savannah' really shines when summer temperatures are hot (or days are longer) and is less likely to bloom as fall progresses.

I picked Savannah up locally 4 years ago. She is planted at the end of a downspout and gets water all summer. She is huge 6 feet, healthy and blooms tons, even when the deer prune her. Savannah is own root and locally grown and I see her every year as she does very well here, despite the fact that it says "sunbelt"( we are more like "cloudbelt")

I moved away from my Pennsylvania farm and therefore from my Savannah roses two years ago, so I don't have any recent comments to add. But Savannah was one of my favorites, if not my top favorite in the three years I grew her.

I learned about Savannah in Peter Kukielski's book, "Roses Without Chemicals" in which he mentions that someone suggested that he grow Savanah in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden (in the New York Botanical Garden). He did so and found that it did very well in New York too.

I am so glad she is doing well in WA too.
