Most likely it is Sumac (Rhus typhina) ...

But Sumac is very similar to Ailanthus altissima ... There is a slight difference in leaves and flowers. So I'm not sure.
We have both plants in the south. Local gardeners can tell them apart, but I could be wrong ...

Sumac leaves slightly down. And green - in summer, and red - in autumn. The leaves of Ailanthus are more horizontal. Sumac has tighter flowers than Ailanthus.
Ailant's leaves have a specific musk scent. Sumac prefers to reproduce by rhizome processes, and the smell of its leaves has a fresh, slightly vinegar, fruity aroma.

I hope there are better specialists here than me. Smiling

Thank you very much!

I don't mean to ask personal questions for no reason, but your profile indicates you're in Moscow and then you said "we" have both plants in the south as if you are in south US, which made me curious, if you feel like chatting about it.

My first thought was that it reminded me of Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) but Smooth Sumac (Rhus glabra) is apparently also found in Co.

I mean in the south of Russia. Smiling It's just that the country is big, from north to south, and there is a wide variety of plants. In addition, Russian gardeners are actively exchanging plants. Therefore, on Russian forums, gardeners are actively discussing how to grow a southern plant in the north and vice versa.
I read and memorize. In addition, I also grow plants from other regions.
But I'm in Russia. Smiling

Thank you very much, Lin!

Larisa, that's totally interesting! You are in Z5 and that is considered the south - of your area? I'm so glad to be able to garden "with" someone so far away!

I believe it is smooth sumac, Rhus glabra because I don't see any fuzz on the petiole. (Hence, it is "smooth "). Can't see any stems.

If it was R. typhina the stems and petioles would be fuzzy (hence, another common name of "velvet" sumac)

The south of Russia is mainly the Krasnodar Territory. The winters there are very warm and short, and my winters are colder and longer. Summers are hot there, often droughts. My summers are often cooler, I have more rainfall. Southerners swim in the warm sea and other bodies of water in September. My swim in the river ends at the end of August because the nights are getting chilly. Smiling

Although climate change has been making a major correction in recent years.

And I'm also interested in communicating with gardeners from other countries and regions. It is always interesting to see what is growing there and how.

Yes, Sumac. We have both Sumac (typhina and glabra) and Ailanthus altissima in my area and that is a Sumac.

Fascinating, thank you, Larisa! I wish I could share with you some of the summer heat here @ 31° N latitude. "the internet says" you are at about 45° N latitude. I have never been that far north on this continent, but I have in Europe.

Thank you very much, Daisy!

Thank you Tiffany for the generous offer, but we have a second heat wave (10 days) at 95 ° F high humidity. Today is the first day of rain, but forecasters predict a return of heat, the third wave this summer.

I would love to share this too, but I don't know who will agree to take this anticyclone. nodding

I go everywhere with an ice bottle. This is not typical for us.

That just sounds cruel and unusual if you have to have a cold winter too. That is what it is like here every day for about 5 months. But there is air conditioning in almost every building. I hope your heat wave passes soon!

We are feeing the heat this summer too. Weirdly enough we were on the south end of the heat wave. I think our high was 104 (latitude 39) but my relatives in Oregon (latitude 45) had 115F. In Canada, at latitude 50 it hit 120F!!

It really is out of bounds but it gets worse. The record was set at 121F in Lytton, B.C. The next day a gigantic lightning storm hit the area (46,000 strikes) and the whole town burned to the ground in 15 minutes.

I heard about the heat in the USA, Canada. This is the hottest summer in Turkey (I've seen people sleeping on the beach). And in Dubai, they even caused artificial rain with new technologies to induce rainfall.
I think the new climate will surprise us more than once.

They're investigating now whether it was a train that started the fire Sad
