Hi, I'm back again with another thread because I've taken in yet another dying plant from my garbage room. This time it's a yucca plant ! It looks very dry but I'm not going to make the same mistake of watering it too much like I did with my rescued Bird of Paradise (in another thread).

The leaves have these tiny black dots on them...can anyone tell me if that's a normal thing for these leaves? Or it was bugs?

I did twist all the dried leaves off, but once those came off, the inside is like wet and mushy? (and red??) It's quite gross looking...I'm wondering what that is? I have no experience in this type of tree plant so I'm wondering if those mushy/black things are roots?

The three trunks still feel quite hard to squeeze, it's not the hardest like I imagine a healthy yucca would feel, but I think it should still be viable? The smallest trunk of the three, near the base, feels a tad squishy and some water came out of it when I squeezed hard enough. If there's any advice on what to do on saving this plant, I'd appreciate it ! The soil is currently dry, I haven't watered it yet.

Welcome! I don't see any signs of life left in your Yucca and several signs of dying. I suspect there are few if any healthy roots remaining. Recovery is unlikely. Sorry.

It's not a good idea to bring sickly plants into your home on purpose. If there pests involved in the destruction, and any are still alive, they're going to move to your healthy plants.

That is unfortunate 😭 but I wanted to be sure before I attempted anything, so I appreciate your response very much. Thank you !

I understand ! I did make sure to keep this yucca away from my other plants and made sure it didn't touch anything. I also did an inspection for pests (of course I may not catch everything and I'm still inexperienced...) but I'll definitely be more cautious from taking in any other plants from now on. Thank you !

Happy to suggest. The idea of a free plant is very appealing, I totally understand the hope that maybe it just needed a drink.

Any advice I appreciate very much !! And definitely 🥺 I also felt bad in case it was still alive as well. I took in a dumped Bird of Paradise a while back (admittedly looked much more alive than this yucca though) so I got ahead of myself and thought it was a similar scenario in which the plant needed water. I'll try to be less impulsive the next time, I definitely don't want to bring in pests 😰
