I received this as a seedling in 2018.
It had a thin lanky stem so I pruned it down. This is how it looks today. Do you think it will bloom this year?
What do you think?

Any advice appreciated since this is my first experience with adeniums.

Love everyone's bloom photos especially the double bloom ones.

@phiksihk Betsy, that has a beautiful form. It is mature enough that it is definitely possible for it to produce blooms. I was able to make mine bloom by putting mine in my covered porch where they get 6 hours of morning sun. I did give them agro-thrive for fruit and flowers and others with a little bit of liquid bloom fertilizer. I also let them dry between waterings.

I did get the Agrilife-thrive so I will give it some and give it more morning sun than it's being getting.

Thks Kaktus and Gigi.

@piksihk Betsy, any updates if you got buds? I think we still have a couple more months here of nice FL weather for our adeniums.

@piksihk, I misspelled your user name. Hope you can still see the blooms of your desert Rose this season.

I brought it inside since it will be 47 and 44 degrees the next two nights.
And next week it will get back into the 40's, but day time is in 60/70's.

Hurray! Hurray! it worked! I see buds! Yes, good thing you brought it in!

Hopefully you will see blooms before it gets too cold. If you have a well lighted area, south facing sun, they could bloom indoors too. Just watch the leaves closely to make sure they don't get attacked by spider mites. Do not get the buds wet.

Gigi, what's the lowest temperature
Adeniums will take? Do they need to be kept inside all winter?

What about watering? How often?

You have the most beautiful blooms!
I can't believe my eyes at some of them!

Thank You! @Piksihk.

I see red buds too! Lovey dubby Hmm could be "red on ice" like my MD Addie?

They can handle low 40's. I let them dry out now before giving them water. We still have 80's and low in 60's, So I am now on once every 2 weeks schedule.

If you have a covered porch they can be kept there so long as it will not get frost, or south facing window if inside. I keep mine under covered porch all winter long and they get the southfacing direct sun for a few hours. Then when lows are consistently in the 40's (around late December to February for us) I totally ignore all my plants. No watering at all especially if they drop leaves/dormant.

Gigi, it is at south facing window which gets direct sun during the morning and early afternoon.

Thanks for all your help! I believe we have similar weather.

Good so hopefully you still have almost 2 months before it will get too cold and see the blooms open. It is disheartening to wait for the blooms to open and the buds will drop because of cold weather.

Thank You! I am Getting ready to post more pics in time for Thanksgiving! I still have a few that are blooming.

Tonight and tomorrow the lows are going to be 48. And weather will be nice through December so I think they are actually enjoying the current weather. Only the seedlings are getting mists every other day. The older ones, I let them dry totally now (except for occasional rain) before watering again.

And some think it is spring time so they have developed new buds.

Congratulations on your 2 year old Adenium. I love the soft pink color. Yellow leaves around this time of year is normal.

On your seedling, rot on leaves are sometimes due to some chemical spray or a sign of over watering. @deepsouth would probably have more insight.

this time of year, adenium are, or have entered dormancy ....leaves stop growing and old leaves yellow and fall off ....that's normal ....

some plants may drop all leaves, others might drop half their leaves ...while some plants may retain all leaves

can see if dormancy has or about to occur ...look at the very top of stems ....see any new leaf or stem growth ? ...if not dormancy, has or is happening ...

stop watering .... do not water again (not even a sip) for at least 30 days ....if a bunch of leaves fall off during that 30 day period ...extend the "no watering period" another 30 days ...

resist the temptation to water ... just a sip can cause root rot ...often fatal

if and when stems or trunk look a little shriveled, or raisin like....water, but only enough water for volume of pot ....then start water cycle all over again

do not let potted adenium sit in water ...ever !

and do not expose to cold temperatures below 40° ...or expose to freezing or frost - either will kill adenium

It is amazing how some of my adeniums are shooting new leaves and buds and others are turning yellow and losing leaves. The ones losing leaves I have stopped watering totally.

thanks @Deepsouth and @GigiPlumeria for all your expert advice. I will follow your instructions.

Here it is today:

Some leaves are yellowing and dropping.

The smaller one is Desert-Rose Adenium-obesum-subsp-swazicum from @Gerris2. It has lost almost all its leaves.

I'm feeling very hopeful that with your help, I can grow these plants.
