Dodging Raindrops - fly on peony petals

My notes indicate there had been heavy rain overnight. Blooms were drooping over from the weight of the raindrops. I don't know the identity of the fly, but I see its type often among the peony blooms (Heirloom peony Pasteur)

Cool banner Elizabeth!
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Excellent! I can smell the raindrops.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Excellent image! This appears to be a hover fly, aka flower fly, aka syrphid fly. The immature stage eats aphids, so are good to see in the garden. I find them around my peonies, too.
Several pictures of different species of hover flies, as well as general information, can be found here:
