I got away from houseplants for about 15 years but recently got back into them. Caring for them makes me so happy and it can make me so sad if I hurt them. As you can tell I overdo everything. I live in a small cottage so I don't have a lot of room but the plants feel like they're hugging me. ❤

All of my plants were purchased online and I've had some good luck and some bad luck with that.

I would love to see your plants and chit chat about them. (I'm new to the forum and I hope I'm not posting too much. Like I said, I overdo everything. 🤦‍♀️🤷)

I dont have pics of plants in my home because my house is terrible for them and they are all outside for summer. When inside they get one bedroom wi dow table, some basement sills, some ugly light shelves..

@Alliecat I love your bright cottage and all your plants dotted throughout; looks like such a cheerful space! If I had my way I would have plants everywhere but my s.o. unfortunately has something to say about that haha. Still, I have quite a few with the majority of them in my private space where I have my "houseplant jungle."
Here are some pictures but please excuse the darkness, I have a difficult time getting good shots with the sunshine streaming in, and unfortunately am not a great photographer. And, I think most of us here love talking about plants; I know I do.

@sallyg, a lot of my plants summer outdoors as well and I have been busy bringing them back in this past week or two.It's always a bit of a challenge finding a place for them because I tend to collect more new ones over the summer than I have room for. This year I have pawned some off on my children and nieces to make some space for the newer acquisitions.

Thank you Sally. Katy the kitty was in a small cage at our local animal control for nine months because nobody wanted her. She didn't look very good back then because of the stress and she was depressed. I knew she was mine the minute I saw her. She brings me so much joy. She's the best cat I've ever had.

I've been wanting to try my hand at a begonia but I don't think I have enough light inside. I guess I could put it outside until the frost. We don't get many frost days here.

You all have your beautiful plants displayed very nice.
Mine are all over the place many not nearly as happy and healthy as posted above. Gotta get organized. Just now bringing most of the inside.

Wow Debbie you have some gorgeous plants and I thought I was overdoing it. LOL are those lipstick plants I see? I've had one for about 15 years or more and she looks pretty scraggly but she's hanging on. They're hard to find now. Another plant that I used to love that I can't find is a piggyback plant. I used to love giving those babies away as gifts.

I'm glad I live alone so I can do whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it.

WOW! I've never been able to grow orchids and get them to bloom again. I can't get anything to bloom. You must have a perfect environment and lots of windows it looks like.

I don't know what's going to happen when my plants grow. I guess as long as I have a place to sit and can get to the refrigerator in my bed I'll be okay LOL

Gorgeous as always Bea! You have the magic touch with plants! Those orchids are so beautiful and I see such lush foliage plants.How tall is that Lipstick on the trellis? I love those head(Hawaiian?)pots too!
AllieCat for the compliment on my Lipstick plant; I love those plants. So easy to grow, like Hoyas, that I have started a small collection of.
I purchased a second Lipstick this year called "Black Pagoda" that is quite interesting looking with its mottled, variegated foliage. The flowers aren't much to speak of but the foliage is very attractive.

Some orchids are very easy. If I can get them to bloom anyone can. I just stick to moth orchids are great year-round, but they're especially well-suited for cold days when you're spending a lot of time indoors. Their elegant flowers will last for months.

The lipstick plant is in a small pot on a stand about 4' off the floor. Loves sittin in water and indirect light, started from a cutting.

Most of the dracaena's are well over 25 years old started from cuttings. They occasionally bloom.. which is quite a surprise. Usually in august.

Really enjoying this thread. Lots of plant lovers need greenery, flowers, even in winter. It's also nice to bring in dried flowers and a fav are the hops vine with hops hanging from them turn pink and make a nice swag around windows and x-mas tree. Many dried materials from the garden are used in the Xmas tree. Some are spray painted, others left natural.

I can't wait to start some amaryllis for the holidays. I ordered some new ones early spring to be sure they wouldn't be sold out by now. Actually love a little flower power for the holidays.

Need a few close up in posts above to see the leaf patterns and textures better. So many beautiful 🤩 pics.

We have two delightful rescued kitties too..and they are why I can't place certain plants in certain places...
most of the bigger plants are at work in the library but they do well there. I will have a conflict when I retire.. leave them or bring them? No one else thinks they can keep them alive.

Bea, I love leaf patterns. It's so amazing how nature can make such beautiful patterns.

Gorgeous! I really want to try a begonia but I don't think I have enough light.

I have reduced my indoor plants to just a few to cut down on fungus gnats in the house. I have 2 parsley aralias in a skylighted atrium, which wasn't very sunny the day I took this particular photo:


Also one pothos ivy that is 6 years old (I trim it annually as I don't like them too leggy):


A 5 y.o. Sansevieria 'Snake Plant' which I love. I move it around a lot to capture best seasonal light sources and then it's off to the greater outdoors (my covered front porch) in late Spring:


I usually have some coleus rootings potted up awaiting Spring transition to the outdoors:


My kitchen windowsill is almost always filled with water rootings to plant out in Spring. Currently those would be Ruellia, Turk's Cap, & native Lantana cuttings, along with a celery plant I'm rooting in water I cut off a store-bought stalk. I just enjoy watching celery grow from a stump before my eyes. I had one get 15" tall and have to be planted out in a large pot one time. I actually harvested some stalks off that one, but I have never been able to harvest very much celery off most of them. They usually rot if I don't transfer them to soil at the right stage.

I'm going to try that with the celery. That sounds like fun. I also want to plant some sweet potatoes and watch them vine.

Yes, I've done the sweet potato vines as well. They got so big I had to take them down to the cabin and plant them in the ground. But pretty much ignored there, as we go so seldom, they produced only skinny sweet potatoes not worth cooking. Don't really have room here in the city to plant anything like that, really.

@Peggy8b, are Parsley and Ming Aralia the same? Got a Ming Aralia this year but I have been struggling a bit with it to find the conditions that suit it. It certainly is less full then when I got it. What is your secrets for care?
