I picked up this semp today at Home Depot
Thumb of 2013-03-08/jvdubb/dce880
It is Sempervivum arachnoideum 'Cebenese'

It says "Although very cold tolerant, best to provide frost protection to prevent possible scarring" It says hardy to 20F

Obviously I'm not going to put it out now. But should I leave this one in a container so I can easily bring it in for the winter? It will certainly get frost and snow here and be in some less than 20F temps!

I'd wait on that. I'm sure someone here will know for sure. I thought all of these were pretty hardy.

I do have that one. It stays outdoors year round. Just make sure the area you plant them drains very fast, and lots of chicken grit on the surface to keep the leaves off the soil. Thumbs up
Awesome pot of semps Jennifer. Thumbs up

I gave up on Cebenese. Tried it 3 times, but it died out for me. I pass it by now. It always rotted at the end of winter/beginning of spring. don't know why.

Just checked today, it is doing pretty well with all the rain we've had.

Are there any others that don't do well for you Twit?
I know I have problems with rot with Lavender and Old Lace, Lavender Queen and a couple others. I will try changing their location one more time. If they still have trouble next winter/spring, I will get rid of them.
