I see many references to photography contests on the site. Where can I learn about these?
Thanks,

Most of us have no idea. That is up to the sites owner.
In the other years that I recall, voting would normally be finished by now with winners announced shortly.

I think Big Bill might have his dates a bit off. The contest is usually held in November with voting starting around Thanksgiving and the winners announced in early December. So it is possible we will have a contest this year.

Geez, I could of sworn it was October! Oh well. I never entered anything but I knew the contest was very popular.

Hmmm, according to the photo contest link it looks like the 2021 contest ended in March. No mention yet of a 2022 contest, yet.

Ah, but what I looked at was a contest for a gardening survey paper. Seems most of the "regular" yearly contests start at the end of October the first of November and end in the first few days of December. So, yes, it should be starting soon if it follows the schedule of the last several years. Thumbs up

A couple of questions regarding the contests.

1. Can older photos be submitted? Or, is the contest only for photos taken during the contest period?

2. The rules listed under the previous (survey cover) contest state to only submit photos at full-resolution. Mine usually run well over 10-megabytes. On my lowly 0.5Mbps DSL connection (on a nice, dry day D'Oh! ) that'll take a little while, but doable. Thinking

As long as you have not entered them in any past contests, it does not matter when they were taken.
" Photos submitted must be your own creation without significant digital alteration, and must not have been submitted to previous Garden.org photo contests."

Many upload smaller sizes, (not sure where "survey cover" is, I just checked several past contests and don't see anything mention about size limit). If your upload time is too long, feel free to downsize them.

It was the new(?) contest that was held the first part of the year that referenced a size preference and mentioned "survey". It was the
2021 Garden Research Cover Contest but all the images of the report "covers" all have "Survey" in the title...I guess I used the wrong terminology or something? Shrug!

Next to the last sentence in the contest information linked above, it said "We will need the photos in full resolution, so please do not resize them before posting them here.".

I just wanted to add that there are two different contests with apparently two different sets of rules. The regular photo contest is coming up soon. The one that created confusion on my part (all contests are not created equal! Green Grin! ) is the one linked to above, which was the first of the year and appears to be the first of its kind. The regular contests I don't think have as many guidelines to follow. Just my confusion between contests. I tip my hat to you.
