If You Can't Fix It...
Hi All:

I am working on the next issue of the Daylily Dispatch which will be sent out in December. For those who are not familiar with it, it is a quarterly email newsletter with short articles, news and updates that is sent to both members of the ADS as well as others who sign-up to received it. I am the new editor.

If any daylily clubs or groups have 2022 1st or 2nd quarter events, etc that they would like added to a calendar, let me know, and I will add what I can space permitting.

If you are not a Daylily Dispatch subscriber, you can add yourself to the list here (it's free)... https://daylilies.org/society/...

Jeff, thank you for taking on the task of editor for the Daylily Dispatch! Can't wait to see the December edition.

The two clubs I belonged to in the Evansville, Indiana area both folded a few years ago, so I don't have anything to add to the newsletter.

@goedric, I believe I am a subscriber to the Daylily Dispatch but can't remember. Is there a way for me to check this or should I just sign up again? Also, are past editions of the DD available on the AHS website? I am not finding them when I log in. Thanks!

It's on the AHS website so you don't need to log in, you're probably thinking of the AHS member portal. The DD archives are here

Thanks, Sue. I was on the members portal thinking I could see whether I had subscribed to the DD or not. The archives listed on the link you provided only shows the DD up to October 2020. Was that the last edition sent by email?

There is no way for you to check. There is no harm in signing up again... if you end up getting two emails it will be because your have subscribed under two email addresses.

Question: I have grown beds of daylilies when I owned a small farm in Indiana, and again in Kentucky. Now I live in Florida and have noticed there are no daylilies. Do they do well here? I don't see any offered at the nurseries.

Hi, Lorraine--there are lots of daylilies in Florida, but they probably will not be the same ones you grew up north. They will be mostly evergreens, for one thing. You also have to think about daylily rust as it is endemic here in the South. Look for rust resistant cultivars or resign yourself to a regular spraying program.

Nice job, Jeff! It's a good read and has some interactive fun as well. Nice article by Jason Halonen, too.
